A story that has been going on for generations...

The Munisteri beekeeping farm was born out of a great passion that has been passed on in our family for generations; grandfather Vincenzo was the first to fall in love with this world, passing on his same passion to us.

-1970

Already in the early 70's grandfather was breeding
the bees inside the Sicilian vasceddi, which were simple parallelepiped-shaped boxes that were once used instead of the current hives.

-2012

So we started practicing beekeeping out of pure passion, continuing to grow steadily, and after many years, driven by the desire to further improve ourselves, we decided to take a step forward and

Our company was born in 2012.

-2023

Today our goal is to tell the territory that surrounds us through our products by bringing a fragment of it into every jar of HONEY.

Mount Wolf

Where it all began!

Looking for flowers

This is one of the places we are particularly attached to, it all started here; right at the foot of this small mountain that overlooks the village of Montallegro, grandfather Vincenzo raised his beloved bees inside the ancient hives
called "vasceddi, so we decided to continue the tradition and to maintain our presence in this now wild place.

Once upon a time both the land at the foot and above the small mountain was cultivated by the old farmers to be able to feed their families, due to the difficulties in reaching these places by public transport these lands were mostly abandoned and still remain uncultivated today. leaving nature free to flourish and grow spontaneously.

We are around mid-February and we are preparing for the first move of the season, the goal is the almond tree which for us represents the possibility of producing one of the first honeys of the year. Our territory has always been dedicated to the production of this small fruit and, like every year, we bring our bees to the almond groves that surround us, carefully choosing who cultivates without the use of harmful substances.

Even if this rare honey is not always collected in such abundance that it can be taken from the hive, we still bring our bees to the flowering because
it still represents an important help for them, allowing them to start the harvest season in the best possible way.

Looking for flowers

It is here that we breed and keep a part of our bees; a magical place where time seems to have stopped, a true paradise is the WWF Torre Salsa Oasis nature reserve, with an uncontaminated area of 762 hectares where we find beaches, terraces, marshes, woods and agricultural land.
In this place, plants such as rosemary, sulla, wild thyme, heather, thistle and many others of important beekeeping interest grow spontaneously, as well as ancient almond cultivations typical of the area.

Here our bees live healthy and peaceful and they reciprocate us with products that are also rare and always of the highest quality; with the good fortune of working in a place that we like to define as primitive.

A few kilometers from our company is the eddy lake; a large area
naturalistic oasis of the lipu which takes its name from the agricultural area from which it is
surrounded. Just near the pond we managed to find an ideal place for
let our bees live thanks to the abundance of spontaneous blooms with eucalyptus and
Mediterranean scrub and the presence of essential water in the summer months; Moreover
this area is an important nesting place for various bird species and habitats
nature of the rare marsh turtle synonymous with tranquility and well-being. In this
pristine place we raise our bees in harmony with everything around us
trying to produce products that can tell this magnificent territory.

We go to the orange groves

It is here that we produce our orange honey, in one of the places with a particular vocation for the production of this fruit. We are located in Ribera in the Agrigento area where every year, practicing nomadism, we bring our bees to what for us is the most important flowering of the season. It starts between the end of March and the beginning of April when nature has just awakened from winter and the fragrant flowers of these trees are ready to blossom. Once the hives are positioned, the harvest begins, between routine visits and some spiteful swarms we will remain in place until the end of flowering when, after having taken the supers with our very fragrant honey, taking advantage of the night's quiet, we will start again in search of other flowers.
